Nicolette has been creating art all her life. Growing up, she experimented with drawing, painting, woodworking, ceramics, calligraphy - any kind of art. She studied Art History at McGill University before doing her BEd and becoming a high school teacher, specializing in Visual Arts. During her teaching career, Nicolette had the pleasure and privilege of helping teenagers to access their own creativity, as well as teaching them to use different materials, tools, and techniques. Working in the Arts also afforded her the opportunity to interact with many talented local artists, to attend courses and workshops, and to learn new techniques herself. Professional development went hand in hand with personal artistic development.

In 2020, Nicolette decided to leave the teaching profession, and she now creates her own art full time. Her studio time is divided between creating paintings based solely on her own inspiration, and painting pieces commissioned by her clients based on their own special memories and photographs - though always in her own original style.
